The Conference

1. What is the 2008 National Conference?
The Impact National Conference is the first student entrepreneurship event in Canada. It attracts student leaders and budding minds with a passion for entrepreneurship from the Secondary and Post-Secondary levels. At the Impact National Conference, the best and brightest students learn, discuss, and network with peers and distinguished members of the entrepreneurial community.

2. What is the focus of the conference?
The conference attempts to design a variety of stimulating events that will enrich the delegates' knowledge of entrepreneurship. Participants will be given a glimpse into the world of entrepreneurship through a range of events, including panel discussions and speaker sessions.

3. What will I learn from the conference? What topics will be covered?
There will not be topics, however, after the conference, students will have developed and practiced key business skills such as teamwork, strategizing, decision making, taking initiative, and using creativity.

4. Who will be speaking at the 2008 National Conference?
This year's keynote speakers will soon be decided so please keep checking back on the website!

Impact's speakers consist largely of entrepreneurs and corporate executives from a wide spectrum of backgrounds including technology and science. They will be sharing their personal experiences and knowledge with Impact participants.

5. What time must I arrive and register?
We advise you to arrive at the Westin Harbour Hotel between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 21st, 2008 for registration.

1. When will the 2008 National Conference take place?
The conference will take place on Friday, November 21st and Saturday, November 22nd.

The conference and the gala will be held at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel.

There will be 350 post-secondary delegates and 150 secondary delegates.

This year's fee for the 2008 Impact National Conference will be $235.00 CAD.

Registration Information

1. How do I apply/register for the 2008 National Conference?
Those who would like to apply to the Impact National Conference must visit our website and register online.

2. What is the registration process?
Once you visit our website, you will be asked to create an "Impact account". After confirming your account, you may then login and apply for the conference. Once you submit your application, you will receive an email within the next couple of weeks as to whether you have been accepted or not. If you have been accepted, you will be asked to log back into your "account" to pay and customize your conference experience.

3. When is the deadline for registration?
The deadline for registration is Oct. 31st, 2008.

4. How and when will I know that I have been chosen to attend the Conference?
You will receive an email from the Impact team indicating whether or not you have been accepted or refused to the conference.

5. How does the Impact team narrow down the field to only 500 delegates (criteria)?
The National Conference team will spend the last few months handpicking each student, thus making sure that the best of the best are selected. We look for students who stand out above the rest and possess that competitive advantage.

6. What are your payment/cancellation policies?
All payments will be made online through via PayPal.

7. Can I send someone in my place, if I can no longer attend?
No. If you are unable to attend the event, you may not send someone else in your place.

Accommodations

1. What kind of accommodations will I have?
You will be staying 2 nights at the Westin Harbour Hotel. There will be 4 guests to a room. There are no co-ed arrangements.

2. Is staying over at the Westin Harbour Hotel mandatory?
Yes. We feel that by staying overnight at the hotel, you will better experience the atmosphere of the conference. It also saves from having to commute to the hotel.

Gala Information

1. What is the purpose of the gala?
The purpose of the gala is to provide delegates as well as prominent industry and community leaders with an evening full of lively discussion and networking.

2. When and where will the gala be held?
The gala will be at the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel on Friday, November 21st, 2008 between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.

3. Is there a dress code for the gala?
Black-tie optional. This means short/long, elegant dresses or dressy evening separates for her and dark suits for him.
